Production

On June 1, 2009 we began using a new production forecasting model in an effort to improve the out-of-stock problems we have encountered. We are working on ways to communicate potential out-of-stocks in advance. We are also working on ways to communicate when inventory is back in stock.

Testimonials

"I have been very satisfied with your service and products. You definitely stand by your products and I am very glad that I found your product.""Your almond butter is the best I've eaten. I've tried three other brands but yours can't be beat!!I eat almond butter every day--slice an apple and dip the slices in the almond butter. Yum!!"

Cashew Butter Banana Smoothie

1 ripe banana (cube into chunks for easier blending)
1 ½ cups cold milk or soy milk
1/3 cup cashew butter
½ tsp. vanilla
1 egg (optional, or use milk instead) dash of nutmeg Put all the ingredients except nutmeg into a blender and process until smooth and frothy. Pour into glasses and sprinkle a little nutmeg on top. Makes two servings.

Product Testing

Once Again Nut Butter supplies customers with quality products that are safe to eat. Recently we have been gearing up for our Safe Quality Foods (SQF) audit and thought you'd like information on how we engage in product testing. When we receive peanuts into our facility, those peanuts are accompanied by documentation from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) stating that the product meets specifications and is safe for use. Other products, such as almonds and cashews, are accompanied by a letter called a Certification of Analysis that is issues by the supplier. This letter guarantees that the supplier meets our safety standards or we will reject the material. While in both cases this documentation is extremely important, we do not exclusively rely on this information; therefore, all raw materials are tested again. When all raw commodities arrive they are subject to the MIL-STD-105E for secondary internal testing to insure the safety of those commodities. This allows us to adjust to the results if necessary before production.

The use of the MIL-STD-105E, which is a military guideline and standard for statistical sampling, is to help us determine how many samples are acceptable when sampling from any given situation. We test our raw commodities as they enter our facility; we also do extensive testing on all finished products before shipment. We engage in a full microbiological and pathogen testing on all products. Once the product is finished, it takes about 4-5 days for the testing to be finalized and for the product to be released for use. If substandard product is found, it is disposed of properly and is never released into interstate commerce.

Acts of Kindness

Once Again Nut Butter donates at least 1% of its net profit to charity. But we do more than give money or donations to food pantries, we support programs that help make our community a better place. One of the ways we are doing that is by supporting the Genesee Valley Conservancy. This year we again are a proud sponsor of the mini-marathon and 5K run.

We are also supporting the Pieters Family Life Center's 5k run and walk event. The Pieters Family Life Center is a quality-driven human services agency known for innovative programs and supporting more than 1,400 children and adults with developmental disabilities. The Pieters Family Life Center is designed to serve the health and wellness needs of those with and without disabilities, and promote community inclusion in a bright, open active environment for people of all ages.

Once Again Nut Butter: Kids Approve!

Once Again Nut Butter’s Omega-3 Natural Almond Butter and Omega-3 Peanut Butter were awarded the Kids Kritic Seal of Approval. This is a certification that cannot be purchased; but rather, is awarded. Children of various age groups test products and decide if they like what they taste. They tested our products and loved them. When you see the Kids Kritic Seal, you know this is a product that is endorsed by children like yours.

Safe Quality Food: SQF

Once Again Nut Butter is currently in the process of undergoing a Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification. This is not an obligatory certification but something we are doing voluntarily as our ongoing commitment to food safety.

We have worked hard at developing a systematic approach in managing plans for our products and processes. We have been working with our suppliers and our customers on specifications that meet or exceed our quality guidelines.

Safe Quality Food is a globally recognized food safety and quality management certification program that helps to enable us to meet regulatory food safety and commercial quality criteria. The code was developed by experts in quality management for the purpose of food safety, food regulation, processing and agricultural production systems.

The SQF Certification process is designed to insure that companies reduce the incidences of unsafe food reaching consumers.

What this certification means is that through an auditing process, our food safety plans have been implemented in accordance with the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). Our SQF audit will determine that we are meeting our regulatory requirements; and also, that our processes have been validated, verified and determined effective to manage food safety.

This is a certification of our commitment to:

1. Produce safe quality food

2. Comply with the requirements of the SQF Codes

3. Comply with food legislation.
